Google isn't going dark today. That'd be sort of a nuclear option for what might be the most important and most-used service on the internet. But they are showing their support in a few ways. Eric Schmidt has gone on record blasting the bills, and today Google puts a black "censored" banner over their own logo.

What we really like about Google's protest is how subtle it is. The black banner isn't the only way Google is showing its discontent with SOPA/PIPA: Google also revealed that they have reconfigured the Googlebot to crawl the web at a much lower rate for today, which will help those sites that have gone black from losing too much traffic and SEO ratings.

I posted a rant against Google Chrome about how it kept crashing my computer. Well it turns out the crashing was caused by a conflict with FireFox. For some asinine reason I cannot have the both installed along with Internet Explorer 8, and yesterday and today FireFox was giving me so much grief that I uninstalled it and installed Google Chrome in it's place. Guess what? No computer crashing, so for the time being Chrome is now the good guy and FireFox is the bad guy and has been removed from my computer.

Interesting statistics from the Vietnam Memorial Wall

SOMETHING to think about - Most of the surviving parents are now deceased.

There are 58,267 names now listed on that polished black wall, including those added in 2010.

The names are arranged in the order in which they were taken from us by date and within each date the names are alphabetized. It is hard to believe it is 36 years since the last casualties.

Beginning at the apex on panel 1E and going out to the end of the East wall, appearing to recede into the earth (numbered 70E - May 25, 1968), then resuming at the end of the West wall, as the wall emerges from the earth (numbered 70W - continuing May 25, 1968) and ending with a date in 1975. Thus the war's beginning and end meet. The war is complete, coming full circle, yet broken by the earth that bounds the angle's open side and contained within the earth itself.

The first known casualty was Richard B. Fitzgibbon, of North Weymouth, Mass. Listed by the U.S. Department of Defense as having been killed on June 8, 1956. His name is listed on the Wall with that of his son, Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Richard B. Fitzgibbon III, who was killed on Sept. 7, 1965.

There are three sets of fathers and sons on the Wall.

39,996 on the Wall were just 22 or younger.

8,283 were just 19 years old.

The largest age group, 33,103, were 18 years old.

12 soldiers on the Wall were 17 years old.

5 soldiers on the Wall were 16 years old..

One soldier, PFC Dan Bullock, was 15 years old.

997 soldiers were killed on their first day in Vietnam..

1,448 soldiers were killed on their last day in Vietnam.

31 sets of brothers are on the Wall and thirty one sets of parents lost two of their sons.

54 soldiers attended Thomas Edison High School in Philadelphia.

8 Women are on the Wall, killed while nursing the wounded.

244 soldiers were awarded the Medal of Honor during the Vietnam War; 153 of them are on the Wall.

Beallsville, Ohio with a population of 475 lost 6 of her sons.

West Virginia had the highest casualty rate per capita in the nation. There are 711 West Virginians on the Wall.

The Marines of Morenci - They led some of the scrappiest high school football and basketball teams that the little Arizona copper town of Morenci (pop. 5,058) had ever known and cheered. They enjoyed roaring beer busts. In quieter moments, they rode horses along the Coronado Trail, stalked deer in the Apache National Forest. And in the patriotic camaraderie typical of Morenci's mining families, the nine graduates of Morenci High enlisted as a group in the Marine Corps. Their service began on Independence Day, 1966. Only 3 returned home.

The Buddies of Midvale - LeRoy Tafoya, Jimmy Martinez, Tom Gonzales were all boyhood friends and lived on three consecutive streets in Midvale, Utah on Fifth, Sixth and Seventh avenues. They lived only a few yards apart. They played ball at the adjacent sandlot ball field. And they all went to Vietnam. In a span of 16 dark days in late 1967, all three would be killed. LeRoy was killed on Wednesday, Nov. 22, the fourth anniversary of John F. Kennedy's assassination. Jimmy died less than 24 hours later on Thanksgiving Day. Tom was shot dead assaulting the enemy on Dec. 7, Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.

The most casualty deaths for a single day was on January 31, 1968 ~ 245 deaths.

The most casualty deaths for a single month: May, 1968 - 2,415.

Most Americans who read this will only see the numbers that the Vietnam War created. To those of us who survived the war and to the families of those who did not, we see the faces and feel the pain that these numbers represent. We are haunted by these numbers because they represent our friends, fathers, husbands, wives, sons and daughters. There are no noble wars, only noble warriors.

Please pass this on to those who served during this time and those who may care.

Yep as a kid I was told this numerous times,and as an adult got told that as well.Zip Your Lip can have two meanings depending on the context. In both, the image means to keep your mouth closed (as if it were zipped).

In the first, it means to keep a secret. The person talking to you is asking or instructing you not to tell anyone else. Can you keep your lip zipped about it? It could be a secret, rumors, or gossip. Those are always good to zip your lip about, don't you think?

The second is just a request (or command) to keep quiet in general. If the person is extremely frustrated, they might use a shorter form. Zip It! ;)

An alternative that means the same thing is Button Your Lip (or Button It!).

Since dropping on entrecard has become quite a chore I'm limiting the amout of cards I drop on. I don't think I will do all the drops I do as Golch Central,and Mike's Place and Loonytoon Central any more. there will be a core of people I drop on as all three blogs.
Not to mention for some assine reason when I am doing my drops my computer keeps restarting.there is no one blog I can point a finger at because some times it(the restart)i just happens in the act of opening up one of the browsers that I have installed. I have a total of 3 Fire Fox 6.0.2 and Google chrome and internet explorer 8.

here is an little know fact about Air Force One. The airplanes that carry our Presidents did not start getting called Air Force One untill 1953.prior to that they had standard call signs that all commericial air planes use.
The "Air Force One" call sign was created after a 1953 incident involving a flight carrying President Dwight D. Eisenhower entered the same airspace as a commercial airline flight using the same call sign. Several aircraft have been used as Air Force One since the creation of the presidential fleet. Since 1990, the presidential fleet has consisted of two Boeing VC-25As – specifically configured, highly customized Boeing 747-200B series aircraft. The Air Force is currently looking into replacing the two aircraft used as Air Force One, with Boeing the only contender. The Air Force expects three aircraft, delivered in fiscal 2017, 2019 and 2021.
Different Air planes have been called Air Force One here are just a few. the current one is called SAM 28000

SAM 26000 is currently on display the the Airforce Museum at Wright-Patterson AFB

My Friend Ferd had a great posting that just begged to be repeated here.

A constant companion and benevolent provider, the Angel of Death walked side by side with the Toltec warrior.

The warrior knew the day would come when the Angel of Death would take back what was rightfully His. The warrior knew that everything in his life, even life itself, belonged to the Angel, and was being offered to him in temporary loan. The Angel provided all he needed, so in this sense the Angel of Death was also the Angel of Life. The Angel had provided parents, and then taken them back. The warrior was grateful for the gifts of his parents. Food, clothing, shelter, teachers, friends and relatives had been provided, and the warrior was grateful. They also had been taken back by the Angel of Death. That was the normal way of the world. The warrior knew he did not own possessions; they belonged to the Angel of Death.

The warrior was also aware of the parasite living inside him. The parasite wanted to own the Angel’s possessions, to consume them, and to consume the warrior himself. The warrior was aware of the life long battle with the parasite.

So the warrior walked on, grateful for what he was given that day, grateful for his constant companion and provider, grateful for another sunrise and sunset, even as he knew they had already been taken back by the Angel of Life and Death.

Let's start by saying I am not a super sports fan type of a person. That being said, every once in a while I think about the time that Cleveland got stabbed in the back by Art Model in 1995. Read about it HERE. I was not too happy about there being a second stadium and sports complex as well. So any way we have the Cleveland Indians playing in one stadium during the baseball season and the Cleveland Browns playing in a different one during football season, but this is life here in the Big City.

I will not even go into the different names that the different stadiums have had over the years. I will always think of the Stadium that stood by Lake Erie as The Lakefront Stadium.

NOW REMEMBER THIS IS A HUMOROUS POSTING.

The Israelis and Arabs realized that, if they continued fighting, they would someday end up destroying the whole world. So they decided to settle their dispute with an ancient practice: a duel of two, like David and Goliath. This “duel” would be a dog fight.

The Arabs found the biggest, meanest Dobermans and Rottweilers in the world. They bred them together and then crossed their offspring with the meanest Siberian wolves. The negotiators agreed each side would take 5 years to develop the best fighting dog they could. The dog that won the fight would earn its people the right to rule the disputed areas. The losing side would have to lay down its arms for good.

They selected only the biggest, strongest puppy of each litter, fed it the best food and killed all the other puppies. They used steroids and trainers in their quest for the perfect killing machine. After the 5 years were up, they had a dog that needed steel prison bars on its cage. Only expert trainers could handle this incredibly nasty and ferocious beast.

When the day of the big dog-fight finally arrived, the Israelis showed up with a very strange-looking animal, a Dachshund that was 10 feet long! Everyone at the dogfight arena felt sorry for the Israelis. No one there seriously thought this weird, odd-looking animal stood any chance against the growling beast over in the Arab camp.

All the bookies took one look and predicted that the Arab dog would win in less than a minute. As the cages were opened, the Dachshund slowly waddled toward the center of the ring. The Arab dog leaped from its cage and charged the giant wiener-dog. As he got to within an inch of the Israeli dog, the Dachshund opened its jaws and swallowed the Arab beast whole in one bite. There was nothing left but a small puff of fur from the Arab killer dog’s tail floating to the ground.

The stunned crowd of international observers, bookies and media personnel let out a collective gasp of disbelief and surprise. The Arabs approached the Israelis, muttering and shaking their heads in disbelief. “We do not understand,” said their leader, “Our top scientists and breeders worked for 5 long years with the meanest, biggest Dobermans, Rottweilers and Siberian wolves, and they developed an incredible killing machine of a dog!”

The Israelis replied. “Well, for 5 years, we have had a team of Jewish plastic surgeons from Boca Raton working to make an alligator look like a Dachshund.”

I am so glad that the play lists that I have mananged to post in the past work.I have had it trying to post new one. in fact in an email I told the support people at Playlist.com what i thought of their system so if I get bounced I will be taking down the playlists from my sites.and if that happens that it does. here is the final email that I sent them:WHY IN THE HELL DOES YOUR SYSTEN NOT ALLOW ME TO POST PLAY LISTS TO MY BLOGGER SITES.I HAVE TRIED TO USE THE LINK WAY TO NO AVAIL AND I HAVE TRIED TO CUT AND PAST THE CODES TO NO AVAIL AS WELL WHAT THE FUCK.
